2018 Summer Pool Party Tips - All Pool Filters 4 Less

Summer 2018 is fast approaching and that means one thing for pool owners......it's almost time for a pool party.  Whether it's a birthday party, Memorial Day party, Fourth of July Party, or just because it's time to have a pool party, if you're serious about having the perfect pool party we have stumbled across a pool party blog from the people at www.partyswizzle.com that has thought of EVERYTHING.

At All Pool Filters 4 Less, we have what you need to get your swimming pool ready for a great pool party, including pool toys and games. 

Of course we found that the Party Swizzle blog could use some further details regarding the pool preparation.  Shocking your pool and putting a bit extra chlorine in the pool to handle the increased pool load isn't quite enough as far as we're concerned.  In addition to getting your pool water balance ready we suggest the following:

1. Inspect your pool equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly
   1. If you have a salt system, consider cleaning your salt cell to ensure it functions as expected and ensure you have enough salt on hand.
   2. Filter System
      1. For a cartridge filter:
         1. Inspect your cartridge filters a couple weeks before to determine if new ones are needed
         2. Consider cleaning your existing cartridge filters a couple days before the party
         3. If they're in bad shape, consider ordering new ones at least two weeks before to ensure they arrive in plenty of time
      2. For a D.E. filter:
         1. Consider doing a backwash a few days before the party and changing out the D.E.
         2. Inspect your D.E. grids for tears, ensure you do not see any D.E. in your pool
         3. If they're in bad shape, consider ordering new D.E. grids at least two weeks before to ensure they arrive in plenty of time
      3. For a Sand filter:
         1. Consider doing a backwash a few days before the party and changing out the sand
   3. Pool Pump  (most critical to a pool party success)  Be sure to check at least two weeks before in case maintenance is needed
      1. Inspect your pool pump while it is running:  check for water leaks and listen for possible damaged bearings
         1. Leaks may require a shaft seal or gasket/o-ring change to keep your existing pump in tip top shape
         2. Loud noise coming from the motor is a bad sign.  Your bearings have water damage and are rusting.  They can seize up and the motor can fail at any time soon.  Consider replacing your motor as well as your shaft seal and gasket/o-rings.
      2. Clean out the leaf basket on your pump a day or so before the party to ensure the water is flowing freely without blockages
   4. If you have an automatic pool cleaner, check that it is functioning correctly
2. Clean out the skimmer basket and give the pool a good brushing and vacuum a few days before the party
